The Haiku Home Artisan Collection is a super cool series of ceiling fans that is as much artwork as it is functionality.  If you are not familiar with these fans check out my In-Depth Haiku Fan Review or learn about the different Haiku Fan Product lines (in addition to this Artisan collection)

Haiku Home contacted different artists and asked them to paint on their fans and the results are stunning and varied.

The collection is now being retired.  So I thought I would grab as much information about the fans as I could. This way if  others (and myself) wanted to see all the designs in one place, they can.

Also, I just thought these fans were a great way to add interest and style to otherwise boring ceilings.

How Artisan Collection Fans are Built

After speaking with Haiku, I realized these fans are way more special and custom than I thought.

Haiku does not have just boxes and boxes of the painted blades waiting to go out when you order them the design is hand build and applied to your fan. To put it another way, your artisan fan is truly artisan. It is created and built after you have ordered it.

So if you are lucky enough to get one of these fans you can know it was created specifically for you.

Collection is Retired

Around June of 2018, the collection was retired.  I spoke with someone at Haiku and they had great interest but when you start with a $1,000+ fan and then add the time of the artist to create the design, then have the design applied when the fan is ordered, it all added up to the $2,500 price tag and that starts to get expensive.

Whale Bones

Artist: Caper West

Haiku Home Official Website Description:

Pairing traditional nautical design elements with an un-traditional, hand-stenciled sperm whale skeleton, Caper West’s “Whale Bones” sets itself apart. The design itself was inspired by the subtle curvature of our fans’ airfoils, and the result is an eye-catching work of art worthy of a prominent place in your home’s collection. With a white universal mount, this 60-inch diameter fan is versatile enough for almost any space.

Thoughts: This is a super cool fan and would work great at a beach house or any kids room or play area.

The warm colors and evocative lines connect any interior space to the natural world. Assembled in the USA using aircraft-grade aluminum and black hardware, the 84-inch “Agate Slice” is ideal for great rooms and other large spaces.
